When your sanctuary, your bedroom, is in a state of disarray, it’s usually a sign that you’re a bit frazzled too. Nothing is worse than having a long, hectic day and coming home to relax only to find out that you can’t.
We’ve all been there on multiple occasions; we are too busy to really work on keeping our bedrooms clean and too tired to pick up the clothes we toss in the corner instead of the hamper. The stacks of magazines and books are precariously balanced on the bedside table while.
We tend to go to bed and avoid the clutter altogether. After all, it’s easy to ignore it when your eyes are closed or when you walk by and shut the door.
It is time, however, to obtain the oasis you once had and maybe even improve. Sure it will take work and maybe a sacrifice in your weekend, but once you get it all done, you’ll soon feel like you have a whole new sanctuary for yourself.
1 - Raising Your Bed
No matter the size, a bed will always take up space. Space that can be used for more than just sleeping.
One of the best and cheapest storage solutions is buying bed raisers in order to make it easier to store away suitcases or even adding rolling drawers that can be used to store clothes and shoes.
Whatever has been hanging around your room that you want to be stored away can possibly be put under your bed instead and out of sight.
2 - Bring In Different Types of Baskets
Whenever you have extra blankets and pillows or even miscellaneous items you just don’t have a place for, buy a couple of canvas baskets or even woven baskets.
With a variety of styles and sizes, you have options that fit your preferences while also hiding the things that once cluttered your bedroom floor and other storage spaces.
3 - Organize Your Closet with Shelves, Drawers, and Closet Poles
Most closets are pretty standard with a pole to hang your coats, and dresses while also having a shelf that runs along the top for extra storage. Sometimes that’s not enough when we add new outfits or change our clothing styles.
It might be one of the best investments you can make to make your closet look beautiful and completely organized. Add cubbies for your shoes, and some drawers for those items you want to keep folded while maybe having some extra poles installed so you have two tiers for your shirts and sweaters.
Drawers added to the bottom can help with items you want to keep stowed away and out of sight. Use them for undergarments and store your purses and bags in them.
4 - Add a Bookcase or Two to Your Wall
It’s become popular to add floor-to-ceiling bookshelves to display your items and give them a place to stay when not in use. With so many different options now available, you can be sure that the customization is easily done for your room.
Your best first step is measuring the area where you would want them placed to make sure you can find just the right-sized pieces and go from there.
If floor-to-ceiling shelving isn’t your thing, having shelving more up toward the ceiling might be a better option for you. The whole point is to make sure your floor space is not cluttered or needing more furniture to store your items.
5 - Minimalism
When all else fails, it never hurts to go through all of your things and purge out the items you just don’t use anymore or ones that just take up too much space.
Donating what you can is just an added bonus Minimalism can help you relax in your space and make you more at ease not being surrounded by so many things. When your mind is more at peace, it makes it easier to breathe and fall asleep.
So there are a few tips in order to keep your bedroom a sanctuary after a hectic day of running around doing errands, working, and taking care of other people.
Don’t be afraid to go to the more extensive resorts in order to get your bedroom to the safe haven you want it to be because, in the long run, it’s for you to get rest and the place you decompress from the day!

“We had a great experience with All Organized. It started with Chris who called to make appointments and handle payments. Paul (the owner) came and took the measurements & explained different options. Then Hugo, the installer, was super nice, professional & efficient. The drawers are sturdy, glides smoothly, and will make life so much more convenient.“
